Default Used 120R's

I figured it would be worth about 1500.00 when it has 3 to 500 miles on it.

I've seen quite a few 96"-ers going for 3K on e-bay. I can't say if I saw them sell for that or not, but I've seen A LOT of them listed for around the 3K mark (if they've got low miles). I agree with the above poster who said keep it. That's what my Father did. He got the 120R in his Street Glide trike and for right now, the 103" sits on his coffee table. When he decides to sell this bike (as he trades bikes often), he'll take the 120 out and put it in his new bike and put the stock engine back in the bike being traded. Leo, are you sure about that price for the 120? When my old man did his I want to say that it cost him right around 8K. But he did also have to do the Stage 1 which he didn't have at the time, so he had to get a new exhaust, SESPT, and air cleaner. Oh, and he had to get a new throttle body as well.

Makes sense when you think about it. The TC series is very reliable. Solid cases, jugs, etc. Very few of us EVER go looking for one. We just tweak the one we have.

Slow market = low price.

Think I am going to build a little hot rod bobber with my "extra" 96. Does not make much sense to sell it for what the market is now, only going to get worse with more 120R's going into bikes once they prove out to be street friendly.

I was going to try and sell my 106 with tm555 cams for $2500. I would be happy to get that.

Wow I remember when evo's were going for more than that. Very odd. I wonder what it is that's affecting used motor market.

My first thought (I've never built one or swapped engines on one) would be if there would be an issue with the vin# with registration etc. I imagine not with a regular bike, but possibly with a custom build these days. That may be a factor in the market.. Folks worry if they'll run into trouble with the dmv/dot maybe. Is that a silly concern? Or folks just aren't building at all.. sign of the times maybe.

I've been thinking about this myself, its so easy to pick up a used 01 or 02 motor and build a 98" on the bench and then just drop it in. You can buy a silver 99-06 motor for $1500 all day long. Then again, you can buy the 05 103" for $4500 bucks straight from HD, pop the heads for a massage and swap cams. Its a sickness I tell you.

Moe Taters, please do a thread on your T111 when you get it installed. I wish I'd had the cash when they were on sale at the end of last year.

Default 96A pricing

Brand new in the SE catalog for 3995.00. Purchasing one with a 15 to 20 percent discount that would explain why they are selling for what they are selling for. Last i knew Honda was buying used 96ci engines for some program that they started trying to find out how HD can get so little power out of their 96ci.

2. Resale, should I decide to sell the bike, I would keep the 120R for some future application. I will be about $8500 into the project to install this engine in my 06 dyna, I don't think leaving it in the bike will add that much to the resale value. If I sell the bike, I will take off the major parts of the upgrade and keep them for future use.
Exactly! Anybody that thinks they are going to get a free ride by installing a 120 and selling their stock engine is dreaming. My guess is you'll be lucky to get $1k for a stock engine in the near future. Might as well keep it for the afore mentioned reasons.

It's only worthless till someone needs it, sooner they find some one in need it will bring in some $$$.I have seen people spending twice much on repair in desperation.
