Rode the old Ultra classic to work one day when it was 28 in the morning because it was going to be real nice that afternoon. My hands were freezing by the time I got there but the ride home was perfect. With the SG and lack of lowers it is a little colder so probably around 35 is too low, but just depends on the distance, etc.

I rode 50 miles to work about a month ago. Left home at 31*. Got to work 28*. I had my Under Armor and everything was OK except my hands. I need some heated gloves.

Can ride in relative comfort at 25f or so with chaps on top of jeans and a layer or three under the jacket. I don't yet have any heated gear, but maybe next year?

Only issue I have is my jaw aching if I go more than an hour or so below 30. Prolly no fix for that, because it happens when I ski too.

It was 10 degrees below zero with snow piled up to just below the telephone wires and snow drifts everywhere when I left Canada and rode down to North Carolina. Nothing like plowing through a 3 foot snow drift on a bike. I was much younger then, I'm pretty sure I would never do that ride again.

23 for sure, but maybe colder. I wore chaps with levis & long johns. Fabric jacket with several layers. My hands were the worst. Now I use the REI & Under Armor & layer & Gortex jacket & pants. They don't weigh as much but keep me warmer. Maybe heated gloves coming soon. Also HD half helmet with face shield, with thick ski type mask that covered my ears & neck. we were on a long road trip from N. Cali to Yellowstone.

For me its only snow and ice that keep me off the road. Just Friday I road 2 hours on the interstate to Brussels and back on my Street Glide. I think the high was 34 degrees.

Younger days...
use to ride Sportster to work in 0 degrees @ 65mph
the wind chill chart feels the same at 50 as it does 80
Now....50 degrees or better
I do enjoy the 40-50 in the morning and 80's during the day when in mountains

If it's below 40° I don't even bother unless I absolutely have to. Riding is supposed to be fun and there is nothing fun about freezing your *** off or being bundled up to the point where riding is uncomfortable, which can actually be a safety issue.

After riding in temperatures in the low 20s a few years back I got the Gerbing gloves and liner. I had to stop that day because my hands were cold and painfull, even though I had big thick riding gloves on. Heated gloves and jacket makes a big difference.
For myself I throw in the towel if there is enough moisture to form ice or if there is going to be residule ice on the roadway.
