I have the factory radio ( cd ) on my 04 E-glide.

this morning I noticed one channel cutting out....crackling. DID I blow a speaker or is this the dreaded "screwed up radio "I keep hearing about.

Where do i start to trouble shoot this issue. New speakers or sterio. I tried all channels and it was still dead,, cuts in and out on CD, but just barely.

it was 47 degrees on the wway to work,,but it has been colder with no issues. Never had ANY problems before a, just all at once...

help a Bro out, gotta have my tunes...

 

If it cuts out on the CD only then it's likely the CD player portion of the radio. If it does it for both the radio and the CD it becomes more complicated. In that case it could be the speaker, wiring, or radio itself. I would look at the connection to the speaker. If that's OK, you could try swapping the left and right speaker. If the problem moves to the other channel, it's definitely the speaker, if not it could be the radio.

cuts out on one side very badly on CD, but I cant hear anyting on the radio...just one speaker , other is dead....

So,,, I guess its not a connection or it would be cutting out on all modes.....

SO,,,,who makes a good replacment. that uses the stock controls. I dont need the weather band. I have seen sony and ?? that uses the stock bar controls,, who does the plug and play

And what are the best speakers....I wanna make noise..lol

How hard are they to replace?? ( there goes the feuling oil pump and cam plate money)

I use J&M SPEAKERS WHICH ARE SUPERIOR TO hARLEYS. tHERES ALSO hog tunes WHICH A LOT OF GUYS HERE USE AND i AM SURE SOME WILL PUT YOU IN TOUCH WITH pez WHO MAKES hog tunes. For j&m just visit their web site. I have been trying to find out which is the best speaker from someone who has used both. so far anyone that used either j&m or hogtunes love them but i have not been able to find anyone who has used both to get a good opinion on which is best
. So the quest for which is the best speaker continues!!

OH YEA,, went for a ride at lunch,,,found that if I hit a bump. or babged ont he fairing the speaker would workk.. so its not teh head unit.. but a wire or speaker issue..

SO,, I ordered a set of HOGTUNES speakers to fix it....yea...just an excuse to make it better.

i hope thats all the problem
