I've got Klock Werks short Puffer mufflers under mine with no heat issues. Long as its turned down away from the bag you should be OK

I agree it would look excellent. My hangup is that it will kill my power, even after dyno. I also want to be able to hear the radio if at all possible.

I looked into the klockwerks, those are perfect! Sadly, it looks like they were discontinued. I found a place that sells them.

Have you had good luck performance wise with them?
Can you still hear the radio?
Any idea why they would have discontinued them?

Thanks,

Had to get a custom map from V&H for my fuel pac with them but they perform as well as the straight slip-ons I had previously. Have a deep tone that isn't too loud. I have the 7.25 J&M's with the www.customflhtwindshields.net flat-top so the radio isn't a problem. My guess on them being discontinued is not many bikes out there with the solid rear so not a big market. Only issue is they raise a cloud of dust in gravel parking lots. Bike now doubles as a leaf blower in the garage tho

4" here, they will scrape going in and out of driveways that have a dip in the curb, just change the angle as you go in and out, i also made my own skidplates full length they do the job very well,

Excellent! That is definitely the route I'm going. I heard back from Klock Werks and it turns out they only discontinued them because they dropped the manufacturer. I guess they dropped a bunch of pipes at the same time.

Thanks for the input, I can deal with a leaf blower to keep the back of my bike looking good. I imagine I can also get er' dyno'd in to keep the power.

Thanks guys.

Are you running a Baddad rear fender? I was eyeing those directionals you have I saw a set similar on Ebay how do you like them?

Thanks Mac

Hockey, what did you use to attach your home made skid plates to your bags?

I drilled two holes in the bottom and used 1/4 x 3/4 stainless steel bolts with lock nuts !!
Oh and counter sunk them!!
