What will it take to make my 07 flhx run with 09 cvo rk?
I've got a 2007 street glide. Its the 96ci with Arlenes Big Sucker, Rinehart duals, and ecu flash.
My father has a 2009 CVO Road King, with just slipons, all else stock.
Im wondering what it will take to make my bike run with his, or better would be great.
Money isn't an issue, I just want the bike to remain reliable, and I don't want it to run choppy.
Thanks in advance,
Tyler

The CVO bikes in stock form are not that impressive.
A correctly build stage II or III with the right cam and tune should out pull your father.
The real question is: Is it that important for you to have more powerful bike?...not like you are racing at the drag strip...unless you are planning on it.

DITTO! I have an 88ci punched out to 95in with SE heads, SE High comp pistons, SE 257 cams, SE crank. SE AC, SERT, Rinehart duals. 100+ hp 100+ tq. It is so much faster than a cvo its not even a close race. I would not recommend the 257 cams unless you like your power 3500 rpm and up. My build was done in 05 and now has 13000 + trouble free miles on it. I wouldn't be afraid to head cross country with it.

Well I say money isnt a problem, but Id still like to spend as little as possible to have my bike pull away from him. Ive always ridden crotch rockets, so Im taking a huge step going to this street glide. Im very excited to ride it, and I have no regrets getting away from the crotch rockets.... BUT I would like to have a good running street glide. Not only do I want it to pull away from my father, I would also like to have the power in general.
Ive been reading a LOT about the 103 builds on this forum... It seems as though for about $5000 I could get a good running 103? Is that true, and would a well tuned 103 out-run a stock cvo 110?
What would a well tuned 110 build cost me?
Again thanks for your replies, I was amazed to see how fast i had a response!!

Haha...thats the thing. The second mine runs away from him, i can be assured he will be on the phone to the dealer making an appointment. And his piggy bank will outrun mine no MATTER what, haha...
But nonethe less putting aside the fact that I want to outrun the ol man, id like to have a good running SG either way. Becuase ive got a lot of buddies who have sg's and other harleys that don't have the piggy banks for the comeback!

I think I'd start out with a cam swap. Stick the Woods TW-555 in your 96" and you'll probably be about even power with the CVO bike.
If you want to smoke your pops CVO, put the rest of the Fuel Moto 107" package on your bike.
For less than $2K you can lay the smack down on a CVO. Good luck
