Default Seeking opinions on Hog Tunes.....

While picking up a few accessories at my local HD dealer, I told the parts guy that my next upgrade for my Road Glide Custom was some speakers and an amp. I stated that I heard that the J&M's (with amp) were pretty descent, but wanted his opinion on other options. He rated the amplified J&M kit a Good, but not Great. He felt pretty strongly that the amplified Hog Tunes Kit ($379.95) was a much better way to go, and that it was actually about $100-$150 cheaper than the J&M kit.

For those who have the Hog Tunes Kit (with amplifier) I'd really like to hear your review of it. I want to keep my factory deck, and will only upgrade to an amplified kit 2-speaker kit, so I'm not interested in any feedback on non-amplified kits. Thanks.....

Interesting. I was not aware Hogtunes had a new 5X7 for the RG. I have the older 5.25 with the amp and it is a big improvement over the Stock nonsense in there. I just installed J&M 7.25 in my wife's SG with only the stock radio and it plays just as loud and clear as my more expensive Hogtunes with an amp. Now the new 5X7 might be an improvement, so I am no help to you there. I have no doubt the J&M 7.25 with the Hogtunes amp would be very nice indeed, but I don't have the coin to swap it out.

I have the Hog Tunes speakers & amp on my FLHT and it sounded good but, the best improvement was adding the tweeter pod! With the speakers, amp and tweeter pod it sounds great!

Hogtunes stuff is very nice. I had their amp and speakers in my 06 RG. I will be putting the 7.25 J&Ms in my RGU in the next few weeks.

I recently installed the new HogTune hybrid speakers on my Ultra ... no amp. Nice improvement in sound quality. However, likely not a good comparison, as I have four speakers vs. your two. FYI - You can find them on Ebay much cheaper than @ the dealer.
