New Mustang "Lowdown" Touring Seat
Mustang has a new line of seats out called the Lowdown Touring models:
Mustang's new "LowDown" Touring seat with Driver Backrest sits the driver 1.5" lower than the stock seat plus the nose of the seat is 1.5" narrower than stock. The 16.5" wide front bucket and the 14" wide rear seats are available plain or with studs (either chrome or chrome with black pearl-centers). Now the driver can have a comfortable seat and still plant his or her feet safely on the ground with the unsurpassed comfort of a driver backrest. The driver backrest is totally adjustable and easily removable, and is built into the seat. Seat will fit with a handrail.
I wrote Mustang and asked about how it compares to the 2011 seat as the are lower to begin with. The reply was the 1.5 is based off of 2008-2010 seats not the 2011.
So if you have a 2011 RK like I do the OEM seat height laden is 26.5...the 201 laden is 27.3....so the results will be less for 2011 owners but the support and shape of the seat sure looks nice.
I like the idea of the drivers backrest being built into the seat like the Super Touring line.
Have not seen these anywhere other than the Mustang website so not sure when available. I love the Mustang seat that is on my VTX so I'll be more than likely to get this setup once I see it for sale somewhere

For a 2010 and older I think it would be great. My 11 RK like yours is already lower, this new seat is 1 1/2" wider then the 11 stock seat so I think that extra width would make it harder to plant your feet, even if the nose of the seat is smaller. Only way to know for sure would be to try one out on a 11 RK but that's not real easy to do. Got to find one on a 11 first. I had the Mustang drivers backrest on my last bike, I think it's the best backrest in the business. I would love to get one but I can barely plant my feet now.
