Default Idle for a 2010 96" fuel injection

My 2010 EG with the fly-by-wire throttle idles at between 960 and 1000 rpm when warm. It sounds a little high to me. What should the normal idle be and can I adjust it or does it have to be hooked up to a computer at a dealer?

I have not done a stage one yet, only replaced the stock mufflers with Rush slip on' s.

Thanks

The idle would have to be adjusted via a computer/dyno. Make sure your throttle grip isn't sticking. The twin cams do idle higher than the previous engines. From what I understand, they do that to keep the oil pressure from dropping to low.

Yup that idle speed is normal for the fuel injected models.

That's the price we have to pay to avoid a heavy flywheel, have our lights ON and keep the catalyzer clean

Thanks for the answers guys. Guess I will just have to get used to the higher idle.

But after 11 years on a 1997 carb bike I am REALLY liking the fuel injection!

Kim,
if you are in the habit of using the kill switch, this can confuse the ECM as to "0" throttle setting.

If you find the idle on start up being way high ( like 1700 rpm- 1300 or so is normal for cold start up), cycle your ign switch on/off a few times.
that should reset the ECM "0" throttle sensor reading.

I'm still trying to get used to using the ign switch...

Mike

Thanks for the information Mike,

I do normally shut it down with the kill switch. Never had it go as high as 1700, always around 1000. I will start using the ing switch if I can remember!!
