Thanks for the info. So no issue with decreased weight capacity/passenger pressure concerns with the quick disconnect? I'm going go give them the ok for it today. I like the looks with the TP off, but liked the longer suspension compared to the SG and the rear speakers the TP offered when the wife is riding. So rear communication, 12v outlet in the pack, speakers, and both antennas have to be disconnected when removed. I'm really curious to know how many clips need to be undone in order to get the TP off. I did see that post and it looks very awesome/clean, however, I can't cut into the wires with the two year warranty hanging over my wallet.

I am not sure of the part # but Harley made a permanent backrest that bolts in. I think you unbolt the round chrome bar over top the fender and bolt this whole unit in. They come with a small rack also. I had purchased one years ago just in case I wanted to do what you did.

I'm having the dealership do it as everything is covered under the original warranty if they do; labor is only $200, but as mentioned in this post earlier on, I'm not sure they know exactly what it's going to take to accomplish the task.

Here are the installation instructions for the HD detachable kit for your bike:

http://www.harley-davidson.com/en_US...ts/-J04744.pdf

And these are the instructions for the accessory harness for the passenger headset and PTT switch:

http://www.harley-davidson.com/en_US...ts/-J04878.pdf

These should give you a good idea of what gets disconnected/reconnected.
