Average cost for painted inner fairing?
#11
thanks for the replies. I should have mentioned in my original post it's for pearl black. I'll shop around a little more. The Roadglide does have a couple extra pieces over the Eglide. I also know there will probably be a challenge with fisheyes from all the crap I've used on it over the years to keep it better looking. Maybe I should go with Rhino liner and forget about it... lol.

Steve, nothing wrong with shopping around provided the comparable painters do excellent work and use premium materials.
I have a good riding buddy who just had his '09 black pearl RG inner fairing painted through the local HD store and the painter did a very poor job; so bad in fact I was surprised the tech even put the inner fairing on the bike. And it was the painter's second chance with the job since his original effort was a poor match; much too dark according to one of the techs who saw the first effort--I didn't see it.
Point is, you'll be looking at that fairing every time you ride and you will notice any flaw (junk in the paint/fisheye/etc.) even if you "saved" $100 bucks by finding someone to do it for $300 instead of this guy's quote of $400.
With any quote, get a description of the process/procedure the painter will use and the paint/system he's going to use.
The PPG code for HD black pearl is 905208 (double-check with a PPG auto paint distributor) and ask the distributor for the cost of a pint--I don't know if black pearl is a two stage (base coat/clear coat) or three stage color (base/tinted clear/clear) which makes a big difference in cost. The price may give you an idea of the cost of one of the major components in overall material cost of the job.
I'm not a tech or painter; but, I did get somewhat familiar with the subject when I was preparing to have my bike repainted two years ago.

Just got mine done last month. The inner fairing, lower switch cap, and both mirrors, painted to match for $250 cash. Excellent job and I am very pleased.
I think it is more of WHO does the painting than the COST of the paint work. $250 and I am please, great. $450 and I am not please, not so great. You will have to do your homework to fine the right person to do the work.

I am having my ultra classic done in two tone right now for $665. The dealer is removing the guages and having a local body shop do the painting. Said he has done a lot of them and they look great, so I am hoping they are right. Would have been $150 less for just one color, but I thought what the hell.
