RE: Saddle bag holster
You must be gutsy and like living on the edge....a cocked and locked 1911 with an open top holster without some sort of retention strap in a bike that likes to shake........
Looks like a disaster waiting to happen.[sm=nothatway.gif]

That weapon is as safe as they get. Safety is on and you also have to press the grip safety for one to fire. Proper training is what prevents accidents.
I would have a holster strap just to prevent it from falling out.

RE: Saddle bag holster
Yup, love the idea, love the gun. It won’t go off without a hand wrapped around it and all the proper safeties “off” so to speak. That thing was designed to be holstered “locked and loaded”. I prefer to wear mine on me while I ride so I know exactly where it is at all times. Hell, I wear mine just about any time I walk out the door these days. Although I personally would have some sort of retention strap on there if it was mine, just so that it does not end up at the bottom of the bag should you find yourself in a time of need, and pointed at a 45 ((no pun intended)) degree downward slope and towards the ground behind you. (ahem, just in case) No need to waste time searching and fumbling through stuff looking for “the great equalizer”. Nothing like being prepared!!!! Safety, safety, safety.

I used industrial velcro stiched on the holster and it is attached to the saddlebag. The gun fits very snug in the holster it doesn't look very secure but i can hold it upside down without it falling out. I keep the gun on my person most of the time. It goes in there when I go into establishments that do not allow firearms. I agree with safety and training. I can still add a safety strap as well, it is just a matter of a rivet and a snap.
