I’d be nervous buying any bike used with that many miles… adding that it was a rental would make me RUN in the opposite direction. I’m sure they kept the bikes up to date on services and such, but as many have said, a rental bike has lived a hard life. look at Craigslist and expand your search to other cities/locations... tons of low mile bikes out there, it just takes some digging.

I will answer your question with a question. If you owned a new bike would you let a "COMPLETE STRANGER" ride your bike for a few days? If your answer is "YES" then go ahead & buy a rental bike!!!! just my 2 cents

personally, if I were to be riding a rental bike, I would ride the **** out of it. When its not someones own machine and equipment, its human nature to push it to the limits (and why not, when you dont have to replace the tires after 2k miles) ....i would suggest stearing clear of those bikes and spending a little extra on something you know has been ridin with care

I've had good luck with buying two ex-rental cars but they were lower mileage w/a year of OEM warranty left and major car rental chains probably have better service plans than a small bike rental place. In a tight market it might be different, but right now there are so many low priced bikes out there with motivated sellers that if you have some cash in hand I'd take my time and find something better.

Sounds like how I ride my personal bike..WFO, no brakes..lol I wouldnt hesitate to buy a rental if mileage was good. At least you have all the service records from the dealer.
