Boom audio half-helmet headset
Hey, any of ya'll out there have this half-helmet
audio cb set that can tell me how it performs???
I have a audio/cb set installed in a 3/4 helmet
and was considering this as I wear a half-helmet
more than anything and it would be easier when
a group ride comes along at the last minute and
cb comms are helpful.

It works well. I bought one and we used it for about 1600 miles on a long weekend. Worked great. I was able to talk to my gal the whole trip. Only con to it was that it cut into the top of my ears. After the weekend, my ears were sore. I took it back to the dealer and told them and they had no problem taking it back (of course I just exchanged it on some chrome) and I think we have decided to go with the J&M shorty headsets.

I took the advice of other forum members and went to IMC Motorcom. They have headsets designed for use with half or shorty style helmets and they cost considerably less than the HD branded unit.
I've found the performance to be excellent as we used them for the entire week during the Sturgis rally last year.

They work with CB/intercom/stereo very well. We both wear/use them. I like them better than the 3/4 HD sets. I did have the sore ear issue, couple ways around it. Several guys we ride with put a bandanna on then the headset to keep them from cutting into the top of your ears. I use my sunglasses to do the same thing. Sunglasses, then headset, then 1/2 helmet. When you put on the helmet it holds the headset in place. I usually just push up the headset after I have the helmet strapped on and I'm good to go.
I do notice they have much better audio sound from the earphone speakers than the HD 3/4 helmet set does. I'd buy again in a heart beat, I see some listed on eBay for like $35, same headset.....All come from the same factory in China I'm sure!

For $75 the IMC headsets work really well and can be worn without a helmet. While the J&M's might be the "best performing shorty-style helmet headset available" it's a little to expensive for my wallet. Although I would be more than willing to evaluate and review any of J&M's speakers or headsets compatible with my 2010 Harley-Davidson Electra Glide Ultra Classic. LOL
