Cam Chain Tensioner

Yes the TC96's have the hydraulic tensioners as stock and they should not have to be worried about until at least 70-80k prior to checking them.

Actually insurance won't pay for damage caused by a *dead* tree falling on your home. It's your responsibility to maintain your property. As far as your tensioners I guess I'd replace them but not until the end of your warranty.

I had the pleasure of taking a cam plate out of a 2002 fatboy today with 33k on the clock. the rear tensioner wore through and the front outer cam bearing is completely toast. When the cam cover came off the ball bearing and a buch of metal from teh bearing and cam palte came out with the the cover. The cam palte is toast as well. there were bits of metal in the oil tank as well so we pulled that and cleaned it out. There is a good chance there is some metal in the crank as well. The gear on the cams had picked up quite a bit of metal as well.
I would pull the cover and change them now. But...that is just me.

My dealer replaced my on my 2000 Road king 50K miles on them no questions asked. They even let me pay the differance in parts and put the screaming eagle hydrolic kit in. the kits was 4 and some change. The tensioners were 130.00 so they deducted that I got the kit installed for 300.00 + my 50.00 deductable on the extened warrintee. Don't know why your dealer will not play ball with you?
