For that I got:
* 2 new tires installed
* 15,000 mile service
* New brakes all around

Did I get screwed or did I do ok.
I do not have the tools, knowledge, or time to do the work myself.
Riding season is coming and I do not want to be in the shop then, so I did it now.
Glad it wasn't a Sportster! For $7K more you could have gotten a new bike!!!

As a self employed small business owner myself, I have to agree with you. Overhead is a bitch in any type of business. Especially when you have to account for all of the government intrusions and taxes. God forbid Obama healthcare goes through, then everyone can really bitch about the dealer prices.

Come to think about it ...you did get screwed....They saw you comin. You know though...they post the rates up and you knew what the price was going in and you could've shopped around and etc....But you decided on your own to do what you did....so it's OK.

I would need to know how many hours and at what price per hour to have an opinion about this.
Do they not give itemized bills where you get your work done?

I'm having a Tour Pak quick change kit installed on my 2 week old (tonight) '11 FLHTK next Saturday. Paid $600 tonight for the kit and wiring harness. The install will cost is $300, $75/hour x 4 hours. Could I do it myself? Yep. Feel like frigging with it? Nope, too cold. Drop it off Saturday morning at 8:30, go eat a little breakfast and piddle for 4 hours, grab a bite of lunch, load it on the trailer, haul it home and let's roll.

...HUH?..are you saying just the detachable hardware, plus quick-disconnect wiring is $600?..or does that include a tour-pack box too?.. and 4 hours to install?......I made my EG Classic tour pack detachable for about $200 I think for the hardware...and I did it myself in about 1 hour...

$450 for tune, $350 for tires + brake pads and labor sounds about right to me.

Those damn $75/hr rates are killing me. Now I have a small bike lift in my garage and the 10K was the last service the dealer will be doing.
