I was told by my local Harley Tech. That I should keep my stock head pipe, just remove the cat's. He said if I go with the dresser dual, I would loose power. He also mention to me. If I wanted to do motor work in the future. The stock head pipe would be better. I'm going with the twin slash round slip-ons, heavy breather & race tuner. What do you guys think?
By power he means torque, and yes you lose a little with the dual option, but not that much. And you might pick up HP, again just a little. It isn't enough to justify not getting what you like. I've had both and enjoyed the clean look and sound of the duals best.
I'm getting the Dresser Duals, Hi-Output Slip-Ons, AN Big Sucker, TTS and SE-255 cams next month. I'll let you know what I think then. All I know is I want the cat out with more performance, better sound and a cooling running engine.
I'm running twin slash ovals with a Ness Stage II intake, fuelpak and power duals. You would not believe the difference in sound and a very noticable power increase once I got rid of the stock headpipes and cat.
In my experience with my softail dual pipes robbed power off idle to about 2500 rpm, granted that was running V & H drag pipes. This was caused by the lack of scavenging, while it sounded great i ended up going back to a 2-1-2 pipe with a crossover and noticed large low range torque gains. Dyno even backed it up. So for my 0.02 i would keep your stock head pipe as it has the crossover and helps the low range torque and helps with popping.

Your tech is giving good advice. I assume you are talking H-D slipons? There are better choices like Cycle Shack, Rush or V&H. I have read some good reports on the SE Street Performance slipons.
