have had 2 hawg wired systems and love both, amps and their rating are confusing to me, I have seen systems with amps rated higher than my 150w hawg wired and they couldn't touch it, saw a guy with a 70w (35w per channel amp) that was stonger than any I've heard, I think they all lie it is best to listen to a system before buying

Wattage ratings are pretty meaningless when read off a brochure. The important thing is to be able to deliver clean power, and for the speakers you choose to be able to handle it that power. Take the OEM HK head unit on a Limited. Only puts out 20WpC but can get loud. Sounds like crap at full volume, but it's loud!

In terms of speakers, there's lot of variables, but all things considered, more surface area provides the ability to push more air and to reproduce lower frequencies. That sort of implies that a 7.5" will typically go lower than a 6.5" which will go lower than a 5.5". So if you want something approaching bass, you're going to need larger speakers. Keeping in mind of course that frequency ratings on speakers can also be a bit deceptive without an actual chart to look at (much like dyno results).

At 3/4 volume do you get distortion in either sytem???. I bought a hogtunes 3way for the freeway and the hog pod and at 3/4 volume I get distortion!!!!! Sucks!

for the OP I guess I would try hawg wired, but I have no real idea.

I also talked to Justin today, from Hawg-Wired
they will have a 4-Channel Amp 400 watt being released as soon as they get the grills for the speaker pods ironed out. This will b done in a couple weeks!
The 6.5" speakers ZX series offer a 160% larger woofer cone, an audiophile grade 12db per octave xover network and Hawg-Wireds sig. bridge mounted component tweeter.
IMHO
Hurry Up Hawg-Wired!
