6v or 12 volt?

I'd be a bit cautious if "the guy" calls ground earth, then decides to ground the positive. Will the next question be "what do you mean I have to check the oil level?" For the OP if you don't have an owners manual then get one and read through it, lot's of good information. Then you can slowly learn the ins ant outs of your motorcycle. Good luck.

Wholly crap guys all he did was ask a simple question. Why do people have to be so mean and criticize all the time? Does it make you feel more like a man? Why not just answer the question and move on or if you are compelled to make a wise *** comment then just move on and don't post at all. I'm sure the original poster would appreciate it as I would.

Ignore all the attitudes, and smart snots, I have a 1991 FLT And had not rode it in years And I AM MECHANICLY INCLINED and it had also slipped my mind if it was a 12 or a 6 volt ,I dont live and breath the dang thing, there are many reasons one might forget or not knoe, but obviously not very many here have experienced a issue with memory, or à issue remembering **** at the time, or for what the resons might be, heck they all must sharp whip genesis!!
but with all do respect, it is a 12 volt system, I might not know everything about a bike but I do know how not to be a *** or a wannabe Clown!!
The automobile industry and some motorcycles companies started changing there system from 6 volt to 12 in early 1960 and Harley started changing there 6 volt systems over to 12 in 1964 with there Serv-cars ( three wheeled motorcycles that were used for meter maids back in the day and other uses) then in 1965 moved this switch over to there Electra Glude model bikes, as the changes allowed for many benefits to the electrical system in performance and operational features!
I hope this helps you out Pal, and you get everything up and going the way you like!
And that’s the way a question should be answered!!!!!
no matter how smart whittled you feel about it!!!
cheers !
