The first time I seen it I thought... really?
I like to ride by my tach. and can usually tell just by the sound of the engine. I usually know what gear I'm in, I think it's more novelty and definetly not worth $200 clams

Too rich for my blood!
Maybe at $100, but not two!!
Says it's only for 6 speeds anyway.

Don't care for the location, besides that I don't understand why it's not a standard feature anyway..........wait, duh, I forgot who the mfg was!

For Road King owners, there is cheaper solution.. There is a new speedo with a gear indicator (1-6+N).. Plus it gives you a tach all for $233 from Zanotti's!

P/N 70900070

drawback is its mounted on the tank, so you have to look down to see it.. but hey, for once in a while use, can't beat it..

If given the choice on the 2012 models of either the gear light or air temp to fill the hole, then yes the gear light. The only time it would be of any use to me is to confirm yes that was a third gear take off.

Default Might be good for learning without a tach

Just picked up (week ago Sunday) a 2007 Fatboy and love it! That being said, I'm still getting a little lost around 3rd/4th - the gearing and power band are so different than the Metric bikes I used to ride, it's a little hard without a tach. Really miss the tach; used always drive based on the tach, even more than the speedo. Will probably be unable to resist buying the speedo/tach combo, but my wallet is running hotter than the back cylinder at the light on Congress and Yamato! Cheers, Kevin.

Should be integrated into the current cluster. Just another example of HD trying to ensure I have less disposable income. I'm getting kind of sick of all the goodies HD is coming out with that should be included (can anyone say "tri-bar brake light upgrade"?)

Not me. If I had a choice of what to fill that spot, it would be an oil temperature gauge. Now that is useful info. Air temp? Gear? I'll pass.

It's to tell you what gear you are in jk

I also think it is way overpriced. And I want to keep my handlebars clean of this kind of stuff. After riding for a few years, I can tell by the sound of the bike.

Nope, don't need it
Too funny, i have a 2005 [no 6th] so at 100kms/60mph going on the highway if the tach is high i'm in 4th
