Arrow Fiberglass or ABS Plastic for Saddlebags

I am looking at getting or doing, whichever way works out best for me, the 4" stretched bags. But in doing my research and finding both kinds, not sure which is best to have. Not sure if one or the other type of material is best. And can you put the 2" fiberglass extensions on a ABS bag ? Didn't know if it would adhere or not. Thanks for any input I can get.

For saddle bags ABS has a huge advantage over fiberglass because it will flex when loaded.Fiberglass will crack much easier if over loaded.Just make sure if you buy ABS bags that you have someone who knows what they are doing paint them for you. Many plastic parts these days come raw.The proceedure for painting them is very specific.

As for mating fiberglass extensions to ABS bags, yes it can be done using the correct 2 part epoxies.3m and SEM both make specialty products for the auto body industry that would work.

Another pkus on the ABS bags...If (heaven forbid) you drop your bike, Fiberglass will crack when ABS would only scratch. Paint repair will be much cheaper than fiberglass replacement.

i completely disagree with this the more research i do the more I realize abs is junk and it depends on what method of glass when made. Top shop baggers vacuum infuse there parts not rolled and all parts are cured in oven to prevent shrinkage down the road anyone who does there research will know Top shop bags hold up better then anything out there

^^^^ Yes to this. We've got repop Royalite bubble bags on my wife's Deluxe. Manufacturer told my painter they were ready for paint when they sent them. Nope. He had to sand the **** out of them and do several coats of epoxy primer. This is one of a few things that made me decide to never do business with this outfit again. I won't slam them here, but if anyone wants further specifics I'll PM them.
