Question Harley Half Helmet Headset

Hey Guys

We both use the half helmet headsets. We both have to wear a bandanna over our ears to keep the headsets from cutting into the tops of our ears.

Anyone else experience this? What is your cure?

I'm sitting looking at 20"+ of snow, so figured that the headsets would be a good project for today. I'd like to add some padding to the areas above the ear, like maybe a slip on foam eye glass hanger deal like you wear fishing so you don't drop your glasses....??

Ideas...........?

We use the J&M headsets for our 1/2 helmets. Don't have the issue you're talking about. You sure you've got the headsets installed properly?

yeah I got the same problem it's just the design that sucks... Haven't figured out a cure yet either... but this is what i do.. In NY we have to wear helmets (I use a half and a skid bucket) I turned the headset upside down so the part doesn't go between my head and ears and the helmet straps hold the headset in place... I think am gonna buy and try the half helmet pouch sets that velcro to the helmet...

I was just looking at using them upside down! I haven't tried it riding yet, but I think you might have something there.....We'll try it if the snow EVER melts! I'm sure the pouch ones would solve the problem all together, but we don't have to wear helmets in OK, but I usually do. Except in the summer when its so hot I'm about to pass out. I usually put the thing in the tour pak and cool off. What's the point of the helmet if you get so hot you pass out riding!!!

Get the J&M headset or boom audio from the moco and you will be damn glad you did. You can wear those headsets without a helmet when you get states that don't have hemet laws. The kind that fit in pouches or others have a tinny sound and really suck ,IMHO.

We got these from IMC Motorcom (sponsor) to wear with or without half-helmets. Fits around the back of your head. So far they've worked out pretty good, but we didn't have the ear issues you described so I don't know if these will help.

I have the IMC model, which is the Boom Audio that you describe. I have the same issue. I've thought about doing the same thing you are describing, buy using the croakies. I have yet to do it, so let me know if this works.

These look pretty slick. Can you use the CB with them as well?

Yep. CB, intercom and radio. And with no helmet, you can still feel the wind in your hair. (Not an endorsement for reckless riding behavior. Just an observation.)
