There is an adhesion promotor to spray first. Then base and clear. Just bought some and am spraying mine next week. They hit you pretty hard for the promotor. 60 bucks a quart. It comes ready to spray. It's used to get the base to adhere to the plastic. Flash time is minimal, you spray it let it sit for a little bit and then you have to spray base right away. Send me yours and I'll spray it for ya.

Black is black! Everybody gives it their own name like Harley / Vivid Black, Dupont / Pitch Black, PPG / Original Equipment Black, GM / Mysterious Black, etc., but they are all the same, excluding the metallics and/or pearls.
Years ago I worked in the autobody repair business and I loved repairing black cars - easiest color match in the world.

+1 on PPG p/n 9850; HD's vivid black.
PM jharanin; he's to PPG paint what dawg is to part nos., i.e. he knows his stuff about PPG paint.
In addition to the inner fairing and fairing cap, be sure to take the separate and small plastic bezel that surrounds the "idiot" lights (turn signal indicators, oil, etc.) to the painter.
If you plan to add the Hogtunes tweeter pod, may as well get it now and have it painted to match as well. It's easy to take apart for painting, and reassemble.
Good luck with your project.

OK I fully realize this is a dumb question but I'm a relatively new Harly owner having bought my first one about 9 months ago, and I'm a bit confused. I have a 2010 EG Classic and the inner fairing is already black. Why paint it the same color it already is? Is it to get it at the same gloss as the rest of the bike instead of the flat plastic black look?
