Default Need help on 07 Ultra Purchase

I currently ride a 08 fatboy that I purchased new. My wife likes the Ultra and wants me to get one so that she can ride with me more often since the FB is not to comfy for her on longer rides. Today a guy offered to sell his White and Blue bone stock 8000 mile Ultra for his payoff of 16,000. What do you guys think. Is the 07 a good bike, is this a good buy or should I pass? Oh ye, I get to keep the FB.

Probably a grand or 1500 more than they are offering or would offer for trade in.The 07 is a good bike, I had one for 27000 miles. If'n you can, pony up a little more for an 09 or later. The new frame and bigger tire are great improvements.

Probably not too bad. Trade-in book value for my '07 Ultra with 32K on the odometer was around $14,300. Dealer showed me $15,460 on the trade earlier this month.

Provided that the seller bought the bike new in 2007, he should have paid about 21K OTD, bike should be coming up on 4 years owned, and if he really owes 16K on bone stock bike than he's an idiot. Do an ebay search and see what 07 Ultra's are SELLING for (not listed or "buy it now"), but completed sales only. I wouldn't be too concerned with a few miles on an Ultra.

I agree, I sold my 07 to get a 10, the ride and handling are so much better.

You should be able to find an 09 Ultra for a couple of grand more & it's worth it.

I wouldn't shy away from a pre 09', rear tire, frame, and TBW included..... I've had both, if the post 09's were that good everyone would be giving the older bikes away!! NOT!!!! He seems a little high, but not too far out. I could've purchased an 07' with 11K for $14500, completely stock as well. Something to think about anyway.

There's nothing wrong with a pre 2009 bike, I have one myself, a 2000. Having said that I wouldn't even think about upgrading to anything older than an 09 unless it was screaming good deal. Harleys depreciate the most the first couple of years, so I just think if you can get a 2 year newer bike with all the improvements of the post 09 bikes it's a no brainer. If you already have a bike & like it that's fine & you should keep it because you're not going to be able to trade for the retail price difference, wholesale against retail when you try to trade. I just think the improvements are worth it, if you could get it for $14K or less that would be a whole different deal.

Thanks for the help guys, I think I'm going to wait around for a deal on a 09 or newer unless I find a great deal. After doing some research 16,000 does sound a couple grand to high.
