Winter Mods Almost Complete
Well after a week in the shop my bike is almost done. Its a 2001 road king with 23k miles I bought used last summer. I took it in for the hydraulic upgrade kit and Andrews 26 cams. Also asked them to dyno it just to get a ball park and I would do any rejetting. I got new tires and rear brakes too.
So first problem is the tech calls me a few days ago and says I got your Andrews 26 GEAR driven cams here (they ordered the parts for me). We quickly agree this isnt the right part. We talk about what I want from the cam which is roll on highway speed passing power 1 and 2-up and he says the se203 would be better than the 204 so I go with it. Im not to picky about the cam swap or I would have waited the week for the new Andrews to come in.
The service dept called me this morning and said it was on the dyno and would be washed and ready this afternoon. About an hour later the tech calls me and says it came of the dyno and is way lean, I think he said from 20-80% rollon and I really need some carb and timing adjustments. It came off the dyno at 76hp 88tq now and he thought I could easily get into the 80s. He had already bumped me from a 46 to a 48 pilot (I thought they werent going to rejet) but said I still needed adjusting. Told him I shimmed the needle with 2 #4s and he said I was on the right track. He said for 2 hours labor they would adjust the carb, the dynotek ignition module timing and run it on the dyno again at least once. So I said go for it. I will be picking it up tomorrow. Besides the 203 cams and dynotek tc882 ignition I have the SE a/c and thunder header 2-1. Oh and I guess I bet wrong because he said my cam tensioners looked pretty good and not much wear.

Pics will be coming in a few days. I picked the bike up today. They were not done tuning it and were already 3 days late. The last run they did was 78hp 90tq. The air/fuel was right about 13.8-14 except for the 2-3k rpm range wihere it was 10. They said I need my timing adjusted as well. How can they tell that from a dyno? the thing had the carb farts bad at decel and low rpm riding today. I checked the carb and left the 48 and 190 in, checked the needle and they had removed the 2 #4 washers so I put them back in. It rode a lot better with no farts and I could feel the cams but they are mild for sure. Tweaked the idle mixture screw and did another test run and its running good. I set my dynatek ignition to the 38a map and 6k rpm rev limit. Pretty happy now but more testing.
On my last test run my blinker came on and wouldn't shut off. Got home and checked and I got no horn, turn signals or speedo. Checked the fuse and assessory fuse was blown. Replaced it turned on the ignition and it immediately blew. So how do I troubleshoot this? Ready to be on the road again!
