Accessories in Cigarette Lighter?
I recently picked up a 2011 Road Glide Custom, which has a cigarette lighter plug on the left/rear of the upper fairing. I was reading in the manuel that you are not supposed to plug accessories into the cigarette lighter. What the F*$k?
I asked a parts guy today at a local dealer if I could use it for a GPS and he said yes you can. In fact he's been using it for XM Radio on his RG for years.
Does anybody here use it for stuff? If so, what do you use it for, and have you had any problems?

I would think that on a fixed fairing bike it would not cause any issues. I don't use mine while riding since the plug could hit the tank, or the cord could get tangled & cause handling problems (real or perceived). As far as enough power, I think it has plenty for just about anything you could plug into it. I have my GPS getting power from the rear connections with absolutely no problems

I would check the polarity of the plug on my 2010 RG it was reversed and I burnt up two phone chargers before I discovered the problem. The shell should be negative. I've heard of others with the same problem. You would not know it unless you plugged something in that was polarity sensitive. Its a simple fix just reverse the spade lugs on the back of the lighter. I now use mine for cell phone, gps and mp3 player with no problem.
