Default Speakers

I have a new SG and the speakers suck @ss. I was wondering if I could install a set of 4 ohm speakers ??? I think I am correct in the head unit being a 2 ohm setup. The boom speakers look like a good choice, but I really don't want to buy them. And I am not going to spend $600 on a amp and speaker set up

How much do you want to spend ??? Maybe just speakers and no amp. If so,......don't expect any miracles.

Why would you even think about installing 4ohm speakers with a head unit set up for 2ohm speakers? The performance and volume levels would suck even worse.

Infiniti Kappa... 2ohm... kick ***... Google them.

Try a Hogtunes setup....not bad for the money...or J&M 7.25 inch speaker with no amp.

Like he says...... start here. if it doesn't do the trick for you, then try the amp.

I dropped the J&M 7.25s in on Friday and took a long test ride on Saturday. They passed the 70mph interstate test with flying colors. The sound is nice and clear rather than the suck @ss distortion of the factory speakers. This doesn't mean that I won't eventually add the amp, but for now, just the speaker upgrade did the trick. Oh, and let me shamelessly plug Dr. V-Twin for the hook-up.

If you want economy, but decent sound = Hogtunes
If you want to spend more & maybe a tad better sound = J&M

the Boom speakers are every bit as good if not better than the J&M's for half the cost.

I have not heard the j and m speakers, but my booms are super clear turned up and actually make my ears hurt.

Have you been able to compare both? I'm hoping to find someone with a jm set I can hear next to my boom set. My boom spkrs are fine up to half volume, but then get really buzzy. I dbl checked that all mounts were solid. Would love to just get clearer sound, not necessarily louder.
