Default 2006 Street Glide Radio Issue

My bud has an 06 Street Glide, the radio keeps losing sound while riding but stays on, you turn it off and back on it comes back for a bit but then quits again. We have the latest software upgrade, tore the bike apart, checked every connection and ground, unplugged everything and plugged back, it works fine and will play forever sitting still, start riding and it quits sometimes within a block or a couple miles but always stops playing sound.

I'm stumped, any ideas?

One thing I would try is the new fasteners under bulletin M1289. The old fasteners cause CD skips and other sound system issues.

Have you tried the self-diagnostics of the HK radio. There's a sticky on the first page of the Touring forum that explain how to do it.

+1 on Iron Cross Audio.

Iron Cross Audio are GREAT folks to deal with......They'll go over the radio and it will be as good if not better than new! Have them put an audio out Jack in the back while they're at it.

Thanks all, we were sure the radio was probably bad but thought I would ask since it works fine while still, I thought maybe it might be something with the speed sensor. I have also already replaced my unit in an 07 Ultra, In fact now that I think of it the audio through the speakers went out on mine as well but it was costant and I could hear through my headphones where as the Street Glide does not have an audio out port.

SGLarry is that what your refer to when you say have them install a port, for headphones or ear buds?

Sorry, I meant to say an AUX port in the back...Device IN. My dyslexia kicked in, LOL
Although they can also install RCA audio out ports back there too. :-)
