I know this is an old thread (raised from the dead) but if I get no offers on my UC I might have to do the same, or trade it a suitable used , lighter model.

I did that, mainly for looks though.[I hate the bumpers, and the saddlebag guards are hard to clean around.] The bag guards weigh a few pounds, but the bumpers are unbelievably light.
