I was wondering that as well. I ordered a set of tw-555's and a pcv from fuelmoto the other night and they weren't concerned about which baffle it had so maybe it doesn't matter?? If mines quiet it'll be coming out one way or another! I can't see why I couldn't buy the muffler alone with the loud baffle? I'll be contacting D&D if in fact mine ends up being too quiet.

With no baffle, you will have no back pressure, and therefore no torque.

I have the louvered standard baffle sitting on my bench, I would trade it for a louvered quiet baffle if anyone has one.

So I picked up my bike yesterday and fired it up today, WOW! It's definately not the quiet baffle. It sounds awesome!! I wish we didn't have 4 feet of snow here, I can't wait to ride!! I put a light in the exhaust and all I can see is metal mesh with no wrapping at all on it and by the sound of it I really didn't even have to check.

Take a picture of what your baffle looks like, if it's louvered or perforated steel. Steve

Yeah.............that's the louvered core baffle. Now you just need to know if it's the standard or quiet.

Have you tried to get it out of the muffler body yet?

Sorry to be a grave digger with this thread... It has answered most of my questions... But my 09 RK has the boss with the louvered wrapped baffle and I am seriously contemplated taking it out and taking the wrapping off for more sound... D&D says it "could" cause the black coating to bubble without the metal heat shield like the performance baffle comes with. Any thoughts on doing this?
