I'll have to see how my Road Glide performs in the summer here in South Texas. The oil cooler was standard equipment.

With your bike seeing 270 with a cooler, you might benefit more from a tune than another oil cooler.

Oh, are you running a fork baffle during the summer? If so, removing that will get a little more air over the engine, as will a tank lift kit.
+1. Id also look at other ways to cool it down before adding another oil cooler.

That's abnormally high and I would suspect that something is awry somewhere. What comes to mind is a stuck cooler thermostat or engine sumping. I normally run lean (14.6:1) AFR's at or near stock in the cruise range and never exceed 230° in heavy summer traffic (S. LA). Run the bike until thoroughly warm, enough to open the cooler's thermostat, and see if the cooler is hot. If not, the t'stat may be stuck. Then, while warm drain the crankcase (plug on the engine under the crankshaft) and measure the amount of oil that drains. If more than 6 oz. you may have a sumping problem. Other symptoms of sumping are sluggish performance and abnormally high engine breaking.

I approached Jagg at one time about connecting two coolers and they talked me out of the idea. Their assertion was that connected in series the added drag would tax the oil pump and in parallel would favor the cooler of least resistance, giving only marginal improvement if any. I heeded their advice and didn't add another cooler, which wasn't difficult since I really didn't have an oil- overheating problem. I do think connecting two in parallel would be of some benefit since at least some oil would flow through the least-efficient cooler. It's all a moot point now since I have lowers installed and can't mount a 10-row vertically along the downtubes. I'm not sure where else you could mount a second cooler. Another issue would be the complex tubing that would result in teeing off the existing cooler lines, if connected in parallel, which wouldn't be desirable since there is enough tubing in the oil-filter area now for my taste.

Greetings All, I am currebtly running my stock TC 96 engine with a few simple mods: I am running a TTS Mastertuner, Stage 1 kit, V&H true duals, and tail gunner rotary cannon slip ons with large baffles. I suspect the probem may be the digital thermometer I am using (The HD one) is giving me an elevated oil temp reading at the tank. I think the easiest and most cost effective remedy will be to add the oil filter that also acts as a heat sinc. No brainer in my opinion and well within my budget.
I will try this mod first and get back to you.
Thank you one and all for the very helpful suggestions.

so boil some water on the stove, and then stick your thermo in there and see what reading you get.

I've been doing some "cooling" experimenting on my bike over the past week or two including adding fans to the factory oil cooler and adding a "parade" fan. The results have been very interesting so far.

If you're interested check out this link... https://www.hdforums.com/forum/touri...test-data.html

I think I would be concerned about pressure problems. You suffer a pressure drop across any cooler and while one might be acceptable I would wonder about two.

I was doing a little searching on the oil cooler install myself and ran across this article, has some good points. http://community.jpcycles.com/articl...ycle-cool.aspx
