I'm sure you had a broken crank, compensator came apart, ABS almost caused you to crash, etc, etc, etc. Those things happen to all current Harleys because I read it on the forums.
You guys are starting to make me feel better. Just bought a 2007 fhlp with 38,000 miles. Was wondering if I made a mistake. I have now changed all the fluids and filters except for the front forks and fuel. Had a problem with it sucking oil thru the valve body and found they were using the wrong oil filter. Hope that fixed that Doesn't leak and appears to run good. Stalled on me once. Just wondering if that could be the fuel filter. Will keep you informed. Only paid $7,900 for it.
Congratulations for owning your bike and not having the bike own you.
I love having a new bike but I tend to fuss over it to much.
When I rode used bikes that already had some dings and dents before I got them I worried less and in some ways had more fun.
71,623 miles crank shaft went on December 13, 2010 on my 2008 Ultra. Waited till January 6, 2011 before ESP okayed new engine that will not be shipped until February 7, 2011 supposely. I'm not too happy with how long it takes ESP to verify their work and Harley to ship new motor. I'm very happy it is covered under ESP but I paid for this when I bought the bike. I'm not happy about being off the bike for 2 months, a 1/6 of the year.
Old Harley Biker Rule " KEEP IT STOCK" Back in the day as soon as we started to do anything with the engine it always came back to haunt us 90% of the time !
Keep It Stock and you will have a tank to last many miles .
