Default Sampson fishtails vs V&H fishtails

Once the wife loans me my paycheck, i plan on getting rid of the kitten on my '10 RKC. My plan is to put on a set of V&H Dresser Duals with a set of fishtails on the back side. I'm torn between the Sampson vs the V&H.

Obviously, I'll get plenty more sound and I'm not concerned about power loss. I'm not a drag racer. But I also don't want to spend the money and end up with fishtails that sound tinny or are missing that deep, throaty sound.

Once the weather shapes up, I'll hit some bike nights to see if I can distinguish between the two, but I'd love some opinions on one vs the other if any of you have gone this route before.

thanks so much,
Strich

There was just a thread on this a couple days ago....might do a search, guys were showing pics of their choices.I for one have V&H's fishtails and they are not tinny sounding. You can change the tips down the road if ya want, change baffles or remove baffles. Not too familiar with the other brand.

I have a friend with the V&H fishtails and another with Samson's. I also used to run Samson's on my bike. The Samson's with baffles sound great, but they sound much deeper without. I ran them without baffles and the sound was amazing. The V&H also sound good, but I far prefer the look of the Samson's to that of the V&H's. Their fishtails do not really have the classic look I was after. I can also get you either at a great price.

I had a set of Samsons on a Roadking with V&H true dual pipes. I thought they sounded kind of "harsh", not deep at all. These had a baffles, but you could not remove them. Finish and fit was tops thought. Just my opinion.

Ok, so what about Samson true duals with fishtails?

Does the mediocre sound come from mxing companies and incompatabilities?

I'd originally decided on all V&H and then I found a post out here where someone posted a video of his Samson fishtails and they sounded great. And the overall belief is that Samson makes a great quality pipe. But I know that V&H does as well.

I have V&H fishtails on mine with the stock cat and stock baffles. It isn't tinny at all.

You can't go wrong with either of them, pick the one that you like the looks of better and go.

They both sound great, but in the end I chose the samson 3 inch fishtails as I preferred the one piece design of the samsons. I still have the cat in mine as well and it sounds nice and deep. The vance and hines are more of a modern longtail design which samson also offers but I like the original wider fishtail.
