Default Genie Door Opener Help

I know a lot has been said about garage door openers, but maybe somebody can answer my question. I was told by a garage door installation guy ,that there was a way to program the onboard HD transmitter to a Genie Intellicode reciever at the opener, ngetting rid of HD's reciever. Anybody know anything about how to do this????

No definite info, but if you have your Genie instructions it's probably just putting the opener in "learn mode" & pressing the HD transmitter a couple of times. There's usually a light on the opener that tells you when it's in "learn mode", & when it's synced. Just did the same with a new car "universal remote". Had to hold the regular remote next to the car universal so the universal could learn from that, then sync with the opener.

The national standard for rolling code technolgy is homelink, designed by the Chamberlin Corp. Chamberlin is sold under numerious name brands including Liftmaster and Craftsman. They are the number 1 commerically install home garage door door opener.

Genie is the number 1 DYI installed garage door opener. But they have there own rolling code tech and it is not compatable with HomeLink unless things have changed since I got out of the garage door business.

If genie is now homelink compatable all you should have to do is push the learn button on the opener and within 15 seconds push the transmitter button twice. The garage door opener light should flash telling you it has accepted the code. Push the transmitter button again and the door should run.

If it doesn't take the programing you going to have to have a compatable receiver hooked to the genie that will accept the code. The receiver hooks to the same connection as the wall button and works the opener by closing the same curcuit.

Default HD opener

The HD opener doesn't use the Genie's code. It comes with it's own reciever that hooks by wire to the door opener at the wire terminals used for the hard wired opener switches.

That's why it works with any brand opener.
