Help, Road Glide fairing removal
#36
So do you put the fairing on with the windshield installed or do you install the windshield after you instal the fairing?
The 06' Road Glide I bought at an auction had a Chrome Windshield Trim in the saddle bag and although it has a nice Clearview shield, it wasn't installed.
I'm not having any luck putting this thing back together (so that it looks right) , any tips or a copy of the instal instruction for the chrome trim would be a big help.

This is a long dead but probably still used string, and I just happened to dig up the pics that I used way back when...
So, pic#1 is a view of the front after the fairing is removed showing the mounting hooks; the problematic ones that are near impossible to find unless you're using the trick described here.
Pic#2 is a view of the same hooks but with the fairing back in place. Note that the headlight adjusting assembly has not been re-installed yet.
Pic#3 is a rear view of the headlights still mounted on the fairing. The green clips are visible in the red squares. Pinching these clips frees the headlight adjusting assembly from the fairing.
Pic#4 is a view of the headlight adjusting assembly once it's freed from the fairing.
The only kinks are planning how to hook the Y-cable back up and convincing all 3 of the clips to 'seat'. But it still beats trying to put the fairing back in one piece!
And to answer Wally's question: I left the windshield attached to the fairing when I installed.
