I apologize for foolish question, but. How do you get those blinkers off. i loosened both bolts but it looks like that those 2 bolts is what holds up the fairing. i too have ordered the manual but it hasnt come in yet. I would appreciate some guidance. Thanks

Yeah, putting the fairing back onto the two metal hooks is kinda tuff. I'm not really sure why they hook or don't hook, other than it just suddenly hooks up. One time, I came close to pushing the bike backward off the floor jack tryin to get that connection. Other than that, everything else is simple and straight forward.

here is the trick to installing it:
when it is off unsnap the headlight assembly and remove then you have no problem hooking the fairing back on the hooks. the headlight assembly then just snaps back in no problem. have had mine off many times.

That is the trick to getting it back on the hooks. There are three green tabs located on the mounting screws for the headlamp housing. Press em in and remove the headlight assembly. Now you can see the mounting hooks attached to the frame. Lift the fairing and look thru the hole and set it on. Then reconnect the headlight wiring harness, and line up the three mounting screws and pus them back in the green tabs will snap back in place.

Lots of good advice here. Reinstall is part luck for sure and protecting the front fender cannot be overstated. On the damn weather strips issue: I've found one and only onething that works and that is super glue, used sparingly of course. The toothpick in the groove/channel on the strip is the method I used. I'd make sure to wear gloves to protect the skin on your fingers from getting pulled off by any stray glue. The reason the strips pop off is because of the two fairing halves (inner and outer) shifting/rubbing on each other and the resulting spitting out of the strips. This happens no matter how well you align the halves and tighten the screws.

thanks for all your help. I did get the fairing off, but it didnt come off easily. It might have been stuck on those hooks. I lifted, I pulled and it didint budge.Anyway, I am 75% done with putting in Hogtunes. I just have to decide if i run wires under tank or on top of tank under console. My ride is an 08 RG w ABS. If anyone has an opinion on that please chime in. While it is off I am also putting in a Tune Trapper, EZ Pass, Piaa bulbs w headlight modulator.

Folks, as a 1st timer, I'm here to tell you ...
The method of popping out the headlight fixture, so you can see the 'hooks' that the outer fairing must hook onto, is 1000% the way to go. I spent a good 45 minutes trying to line it up, then I came back, re-read this forum, tried the method of using the headlight fixture hole to align the hooks, and I was done in another 15 minutes (all of the torx's, turn signals, etc.
It IS a little less cumbersome re-installing the outer fairing without the windshield, but then that becomes just another part to put back on. I do think that little 'gotchas' like hairline scratches in the dash are easier to avoid that way.

I would like some input on the removal and installation of the outer front faring for a 2007 Road Glide. I have a set of Hog Tune speakers that I would like to install. I have had the speakers for almost three weeks. I have been waiting to buy the 2007 service manual. I have called three local dealerships and each one does not know when they will receive the service manual. Each dealership says that the removal and re-installation is a real pain and that it will take two people for the re-installation of the front fairing.
Having been a helicopter mechanic in the Marine Corps I am mechanically inclined. I do know however that having the right tools to accomplish the job is critical.
I am afraid that I will be able to remove the fairing but re-installing it will be a problem. I understand that there are clips by the radio unit that the upper fairing need to attach to.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated. I have done a search on the forum and the internet and have not been able to find much information on the maintenance process.
