Unhappy Load Equalizers

Hello. I am a new member but I have learned a lot by just reading all the threads for several months. I have an 02 Ultra classic. I want to make my turn signals and brake/running light LEDs. Also want to change my tour-pak running lights to brake and turn-signals LEDs. I've tried to become knowledgeable on Load Equalizers but the more I read, the more confused I become. HELP. Do I need an equalizer for the rear LEDs (including the Tour-Pak) and one for the front turn signals?

You'll only need one. I use the Custom Dynamics Triple-Play, which has an integrated run/brake/turn module to it.

How about Badlands, part #4859? I've had it for about a year. Is this a reputable one or should I go with the HD one?

Haven't researched them lately, but the Badlands Equalizers have a good rep. If i remember correctly, they are solid state. That'll keep em from getting too hot and frying. Had that experience with the Kury load equalizer. POS.....Be very specific when you order...tell whomever exactly what brands of LED's you are installing.

In my case, the Kury run brake turn tail light didn't work with the Badlands. The folks at Custom Dynamics are super...great products and great customer service. When my kury tail light needs replacing...I'm going with either the Badass tail light or something from Custom Dynamics.

Good luck....when you're new to that LED stuff...it can be confusing/over-whelming (or maybe it was just me?! )

Interesting read. I just bought Adjure LED indicators that say on the packet fit and forget (well perhaps not exactly that, but they don't mention equalizers). I have seen mention of equalizers during my armchair research and am also confused. When the weather gets a little warmer I will brave the elements out in my garage and fit my new lights and see what happens. Fingers crossed! In the meantime I'll keep an eye on here to see what the wisdom is.

I remember the LED learning curve, went through it on my 06 SG. I don't know if your 02 has the integrated Turn Signal Securuty Module TSSM. The conflict is LEDs don't draw enough power so the ecm reads them as burnt out bulbs, the TSSM causes even more problems. On my 06, I can run LED signals in the front or in the rear without an equalizer. If I want to run LED signals front and rear, I need an equalizer. I used the Bike-Tronics, another fine American product with great customer service and warranty. You have a unique lighting goal, call BikeTronics or visit their website. Friendly reminder to get LEDs the same color as the lens they will be used with, amber for signals, red for brake, LED light is a different specrum than incadescant, white LED doesn't work so great under a red brake lens.

On my 11 SG I used a biketronics load equalizer that is plug and play. All I did was switch my bulbs to led ones I found cheap at a local truck stop. Total money invested $100 and $70 of that was the biketronics module. Their customer support is awesome too!

Previous RG used Kuryakyn, worked but got really hot.
Badlands on this scoot, works well and doesn't cook.

Badlands was very good to deal with, highly recommended.
