Default Long term storage

Getting ready to pop smoke into Kuwait for a few months and maybe even more. Any thoughts on storing the 07 SG for extended periods?

These items come to mind for long term storage:
Run fuel stablizer through the system, drain the tank.
Climate controlled storage.
Remove the battery from the bike. Trickle charge should be checked once a week so its not a good idea to leave it unattended. You can charge the battery when you get back.

I don't drain the tank, I fill it and add Stabil.
Been doing it that way for 30 years and no rust forms in the tanks of my bikes.

Months of storage up here in the Great White North with cold temps.

what about elevating the bike to keep the tires from getting flat spots? Is that even an issue?

you can do that but I just put some carpet under both wheels in the garage

Add Sabil, fill tank, run bike at least an hour to burn off moisture, top off tank (Stabil) change oil, batt tender, tires off the concrete floor (carpet or wood)..Do not start motor for short periods just leave it sit. Done this for years 7months of storage per year up here

Here's a good read on gas. Looks like I was wrong about draining the tank as a previous poster stated as doing so can cause rust and other issues.

I would think that elevating the bike to keep the tires from getting flat spots would be harder on the suspension than i would want. just make sure it is good and dry, sitting on carpet, full tank of fuel with sta-bil and battery tender. Your bike will be safe.....you be safe too!

If you don't have anyone to check on your battery tender atleast weekly,
I'd pull the battery and store it in a warm dry area....and not on concrete.
Add some variety of a gas stabilizer. I also put 2" of styrofoam insulation
under each wheel and a 2" block of wood under my 'jiffy stand' too offset the
2" the wheels are elevated.
Drape a king-sized bed sheet over her and walk away....

all of the above + (too much time on my hands) make sure she's washed and waxed. Then w/a microbiber rag in 1 hand & a can of wd40 in the other, I spray every fastener I see.
