Default Upgrade Estimate from Dealer

Here is the quote from my local dealer for the upgrades I am thinking about. Keep in mind it still does not have the exhaust, tuner or air cleaner. Thats another 689.00 from fuelmoto.

Item Total: 1,238.00
LaborT otal: 420.00
ContracLt abor: 0.00
Shop Supplies: 20.00
StorageF ees: 0.00
Tax Total: 94.04
Deductible(Tso) tal: 0.00
Work Order Total : 1,772.04
Deposits: 0.00
TotaBl alancDe ue: 1.772.04

I tried copying the quote, but the website breaks it down all weird. So just show the totals. This is with the SE Hydraulic Coversion kit and SE 203 cams. What is you opinion?

Cycle Rama puts in his 575 cams, hi flow air cleaner, race tuner and maps it for around $1900, all you need to add to this amount is the exhaust

I'm a cheapskate. and those do look like dealer prices.

i see you have cam support etc. which is probably good.

Have your cams been selected to work optimally with your pipes, gearing, riding style and expectations?

If you are working with Fuelmoto, have you asked them (1.) about these cams and (2) do they have a service tech in your area that they work with.

I'd suggest you get everything done at one time, by one tech- so that if there is a problem or compatibility issue- there is no finger pointing.

get all the new stuff put in and get it all tuned "as a system".

I see that they are doing adjustable pushrods- that is a great time and cost saver, the old solid rods are cut out, the new rods are put in then extended to length. It saves pulling the heads off.

If you were ever to have the heads off, solid rods might be better in the long run, a.) they are precision length b.) they have no lock nut to loosen up and allow the rod to collapse.

But only if you were having the heads off for another reason, such as head work etc.

PDDGM-

Totally off topic--Went to college with a kid from Lake of the Ozarks, or "The Midwest Coast" as he liked to call it. Peter Walter I think was his name. Went to Spartan College of Aeronautics with me. Both got our Airframe and Power plant tickets. I'm from Branson area, moved to go to college and stayed here in Tulsa. Think we might come up to the MO State HOG Rally this year....

If you feel like traveling a little there is a great guy in Belton MO. that can help you out and save you some money. Most know him from Gails Harley Davidson, he used to be married to Gail. Give him a call and tell him what you are thinking about doing and he will give you a good deal and not give you a line of crap. He knows what he is doing. His name is Mike Wilson, AKA, Dyno Mike. The best thing about Mike is he will let you help do the work if you like so you actually learn something.

Little high, but it's a dealership.

Sometimes it's worth a few extra bucks for the convenience.

Good choice going with the conversion plate.

You might try the stealer in Springfield, they have been offering a parts discount and a labor discount if you buy it all from them and have them do the work. They quoted the entire job for me for about what you were quoted just for parts to do a cam and tensioner job. Decided to do it myself though and save the money. Hope this helps.

Do not take your bike to the dealer for anything after the 1000 mile change the oil and check nothing service.
They are all crooks and good at it.

Stay away !

Use a 20% off online parts dealer and do the work yourself. This is what it would break down to:

24017-10 $11.96
25284-08 $343.96
25937-99B $239.96
17045-99D $83.16

Total from HD $679.04
Fuelmoto setup $689.00

Total cost $1368.04
Total savings $1093
