Lotta pros and cons either way. I got an 06 SG and very happy with it. I would go with the cheaper one cause you will spend a lot more money on either one you get. I didn't hear anyone mention the 07 trans whine that requires the "optional" IDS that was mysteriously added as standard equipment on 08 up. The 07's O2 controlled EFI makes for a real hot running bike. Many complain that the 6SP is useless til you pump up the motor a little. No one mentioned the trivial aspects of the decision. 06 is the first year of the SG, the only year SG availavle CARB or EFI, and the last year of the 88" w/5 speed. Every model and year have unique little charateristics.

Thank you everyone for your input. A lot of very useful information. I have decided on the 07 for $13000. Im waiting for his credit union to get the title in hand so I can pay him and pick up the bike. I should have it by wednesday. I rode it a while yesterday and had to get it. I will post some pics when I get her home. Thank You again!

I ride an 06 Ultra that will be with me from now on ....over 30k in it and still building...but if it were me I would skip past both of those and find a used 09 and get the new frame...a ride you could keep for life...

Ok, I'll ask.

Of the 130,000+ members of this forum, how many of you have a broken crank in your '07 96" bike?

Last time that was asked.......2. And one of those was questionable!

OP.....congrats! Just a couple of things that came up. Out here with miles of straight ribbon we LOVE the 6th gear, hopefully you will also. As to the 5th gear whine, if your bike has it, change the tranny to Hvy Duty Redline Shockproof or similar and it will all but go away.

Take your time and research the "issues" that these and every other model year are reported to have. These bikes any year will run a lot of miles with just service.
