Default Drive Belt Life

I've heard it all: Change drive belts at 50,000, 80,000 even 100,000. Daily commute '00 Road Glide ( 139 T, 1 1/2" ) has me at 82,000 already. Thing is the pulleys look new and the belt hasn't a tear, fray, hole or crack anywhere to be seen. 11 years old.
Opinions very welcome!
Thanks,
Stig

as long as you look at it ,really look at it at every service, I wouldn't change it until 100k, sure it COULD leave you setting on the side of the road, but it seems a waste to change a belt that still moves ya.

I have a friend with an old AMF FLT. His belt was pathetic. Missing most of the teeth, and looked like it could break if the wind was out of the wrong direction. He finally replaced it, for the first time, this last winter.

How long it lasts will have a lot to do with how hard you run.

If you're really worried about it, buy one of those emergency belts, and throw it in your bag.

I would just keep an eye on it at each service interval. If it looks good, as you describe, I would not change at this time.

New belts, starting in 07 are good for 100k unless you start doing heavy engine mods.

Just replaced mine at 31000 as the old one broke after getting off the interstate for gas.

If this is an original belt from 2000 you're probably on borrowed time. The new belts will go 100k but the older ones for only 50k.

Something I often think about, too. Got 77,--- on my 05 and am guessing it's the orginal belt, at least since I bought it with 21,000 on it. Can't see any wear and have asked the dealer and indy about it and they both said looks ok...Am getting ready for some upgrades and repairs, so most likely will replace..
