Carrying a lot of water is mandatory hitting the long stretches of Rt 66 here in the summer where it is ghost town after ghost town. Bought the Hopnel version on ebay two years ago and it works great, has not leaked yet.
Most of the time we just stop at a bar along the way but sometimes the route doesn't lend itself to that or when the temp gets over 100 here we need to stop more often. I have used the HD saddlebag cooler for 2 years now. It works great and no leaks.
I have the Harley cooler for my Ultra. It does not leak, however the ice last only 5 - 6 hours on a very hot day. Most of the time it is good enough. Maybe for a camp trip it would not be ideal. The saddle bag bottom gets very hot. It helps to have a couple of wipe down rags on the bottom to insulate from exhaust heat. All in all not a bad product. T
I have the square Harley cooler, I spread my a@@less chaps out on the bottom of the saddle bag to insulate the cooler from the exhaust heat. Kills two birds with one stone, I have my chaps incase it rains and insulates the cooler. I prefer to carry cans, they stay cooler longer and I can crush them so the emptys take up less room.
i have one of the harley saddlebag coolers and it works great. i also use the blue icepacks that have some sort of jell in them and you freeze them and when they melt, no mess. the slanted cooler is made to fit inside of your saddlebag, and they don't take up all the room, so there's a little bit of room in one end of the saddlebag. i think it holds six or eight cans and the blue ice pack things.
