Unhappy backfire through throttlebody

I have a 2000 FLHTCI - rode bike into local dealership after having bike feel like it was down on power, after a week at the dealership, bike no longer driveable due to backfire...dealer unable to repair, installed TPS sensor, crank sensor, had to be flatbedded home.
HELP...anyone out there with these issues???

There are several causes....

Timing
Spark Plugs
Spark plug wire(s)
Dirty throttle body
Fuel filter
Stuck valve
etc..

How many miles on the bike?

I would find another shop, a good Mom and Pop shop have the best mechanics IMO.

Once in a while, mine back fires through the throttle body on start up, usually when cold.

Sounds like an incompetent dealer, if it's electronics it should have thrown a code. The 2000 also has a cam position sensor, I think it's more in control of the timing. I've had the crank pos sensor go bad on 2 bikes & it doesn't run at all. I'm amazed they didn't try a cam sensor since they just tried to throw stuff at it without diagnosing the problem. I'd try another shop also, hopefully one that has mechanics that know what they're doing, the computer should have some trouble codes stored in it to help them out. Guessing over the net I'd say it was the cam sensor or a bad coil, good luck.
