Its all in what you get used to riding. i've ridden 09 ultras 10 limiteds and 11 se ultras. Compared to my 06 ultra they all felt weird. I dont like the tbw and dont like the big rear tire at slow speeds and especially backing up. The 09 and later bikes seem a little more plush on rough roads but how often are we on backroads for any distance. I too considered an ultra limited but the dollars per convience didn't add up. I really enjoy parking my paid for 06 in a group of newer more expensive bikes and people walk past them and admire mine. I just wouldnt have the money to spend makin a new bike my own and admit it guys, we all like the attention!

I stand corrected, the additional stroke on the "96 with the 6 speed encouraging riders to lug the motors down brought it to a head. The dealership where I worked back then replaced 2 engines that year, ( under warranty.)

I see what you mean. The 6 speed would (and has) certainly encouraged a lot of lugging. Absolutely.
