Default Bagger Brace install: apparently my dog bone is bent upward

2006 Ultra
I received my Bagger Brace today and believe that my dogbone is bent upward. I am afraid to try to lever it downward by putting pressure with a bar on the oil pan without some help from others who have encountered the same situation. I cannot think of any other way to lever it downward than with a curved bar that will exert pressure on the oil pan.

The instructions say to make sure the dogbone is level with the frame rails and it is in fact about 3/8" or more bent upward, according to my straight edge. There are no obvious marks on the dogbone to indicate that it hit anything, but the brace will not slip in behind it for the installation.

Sure would appreciate any assistance on this. Otherwise I guess I will just have to send the brace back since I cannot use it if I cannot get the dogbone crossmember to move down.

Thanks.

Mine was bent a little, I don't know about 3/8ths though, maybe more like an eighth of an inch. I would call Bitchen Baggers Monday and talk to them about it. I'm sure they a have a fix.

I recall someone or one of the brace mfg's selling a tool to straighten the support. If you do a search on braces here, you may find some info.
Dont see why it could not be straightened with some steel plates and bolts.

Instead of prying on the oil pan pulling down, can you put something (like a bolt)through the cross-member and protect the frame with something like a piece of hose and pull upwards on the bar using the protected frame as a fulcrum point? Did I explain that clearly?

Thanks all. I pried it down satisfactorily little by little and did the install. Maybe the dogbone is not perfectly straight but all the parts fit Ok. I bet a former owner put a jack right on the crossmember and bent it up.

The crossmember actually bent down quite easily with a curved pry bar against the oil pan. Seems like a pretty stout pan.

Thank you.
