good for you. i am also a nam vet, huey crew chief, and had a heart attack two years ago, and my strength really hasn't come back as much or as quick as i expected, but it beats the alternative. another day on this side of the turf is a good one. i don't ride as much as i used to, but it sure feels great to get out riding when the weather doesn't suck. i turned 59 a couple of months ago, so if i eat right, diet and exercise i might be able to squeeze some more years out of my body. congratulations to you for sticking with it. don't listen to riteway and smokin dave, they're old guys. if you just roll over and let time catch up with you, it will. it's up to us to keep the dust knocked off so we can have some more years.

Hell, and I really, really mean this. I'd much rather die on my bike than rot away in front of my family from cancer or some other ****ed up thing. Lived through it way too many times in the past 10 years and it sucks the life out of all involved... Much rather have them remember me smiling and happy on the bike.

Peace out...
Very well said, Plus 1 and ditto.

Im still a young punk, aint 60 yet. I cant even see not riding. I do keep it under 100 now, well msot of the time.
My Boss is 63, and his kids made him quit. When he took my Sporty for a putt, his daughters came unglued. He has a full HD shop, ran escort for years on an FLH. Not a day goes by he wishes he was back in the wind.
I dont need that misery

If you can still pick the bike up and ride it then who cares how old you are. You can get a bike that is older then you and it still rides perfectly so why can't you?

If a person is hassling you because they think you are too old, fear not as it is just jealousy as they either want to ride or fear they will not have enough heart to ride at that age.

I think you know when it is time to hang up the saddle but that time is different for everybody as their is no expiry date on HD riders or HD's.

I am 75, have had tripple by-pass, two total hip replacements, prostate cancer, etc, etc, and I still enjoy and ride my 2009 Road King. In fact, I still work as a full time Pastor and have no plans on retireing soon. So, as long as you are able to throw your leg over the seat, and keep your balance, enjoy it. When you can't do that, then get a trike! You are still young! Enjoy life!

you are not to old unless you no longer can throw your leg over the saddle, or are no longer comfortable ridding. my brother in law just bought a wing to enjoy touring at 67 and he said he plans to ride for many more years.

when i get too old to ride my streetglide, i can trade it in on a tri glide. when i get too old to ride the tri glide, there's always those commercials about the hoveround. anything beats only riding a rocking chair, but i notice nowadays, i sometimes get the bike out of my shop and get ready to go riding, then it happens, five minutes after i leave the house i cannot remember where i was going. but i make the best of it and end up going somewhere anyway. this is a really great thread you started, thank you for starting it.
