Not to **** on your wheaties but if it were me I'd by new rather than a rental for close to the same money. Go to the HD website and check out the new prices for your own info if you would like.
I agree with this guy... the price is too close to a new one. Just buy new and then you know everything that happened to the bike.

If the bike was in the rental fleet then it probably has license plates, not dealer plates, which means the bike is titled in someones name or business.

Unless you are paying cash, you can't finance the bike as new once titled. Just something to think about if you were to finance the bike. I would compare interest rates on new/used and see where i stand.

Good luck

Well, I was bored today, so I went by the dealership to look at the bike and talk to the salesman. The bike is vivid black/black ice pearl. Interesting color, the pearl changes colors from blue to purple. According to the salesman, 3500 or so miles were put on by the sales manager last summer on a trip to Ariz. He said the remainder of the factory warranty would apply(ever how much that is)and an extended warranty was available. I really like the looks of the bike and he said the price would come down, as soon as I told him I could by a 2011 for the same price he was asking for the 2010. My custom derby cover will fit as well as my shifter linkage. I am just waiting for a warm day to take mine over and ride it. What would you offer, if you trade in was 10,900.00...Again, thanks for all the input and I do value the opinions I get on here.

Since I have never owned a new HD, what is the length of the factory warranty and what is a good price to pay for extended warranty. I have seen some that say they aren't worth the money and others say they saved their asses on covered repairs. I plan on this being my last HD, as I am going to retire next year and won't have the funds to buy another one. Again thanks for the advise and opinions.

Warranty is two years and unlimited mileage. If you have any accessories installed within 90 days of purchase and the dealer installs them, then those are also covered by the two year warranty.

Extended warranty I have on my 2010 - paid $1200 I believe for two years more.

Also, if you purchase a new bike you should get a one year membership to HOG paid for by the dealer. If you are already a memeber of HOG, then you get an additional year added on to you membership.

My 10'LTD MSRP was 24,699, that is how much they wanted. The prep, freight , etc added up to 1k more. For the 1k there were several little perks that that money covered.
The factory warrenty 2 years.
A vivid black ultra LTD is available for 2011 and it lists for less, about 22,000.

My guess is however much they reduce the sales price they will make it up on the trade.
I would be surprised if they want to sell the bike from the rental fleet for less than 22,500, giving 10k on the trade in. If they want more than 23k for the rental bike I would consider buying the 2011 vivid black ultra LTD and demanding at least 10k for the trade.

Just checked HD price , they have MSRP for the vivid black ultra LTD at 23,699 and the custom colors at 24,899, the regular two tone paint is listed at 24,699.

I paid $24,000 OTD for my 2010 Limited brand new. That seems pretty high on a used bike.

If it was the color of yours, it would most likely already be mine. I absolutely love a white bike, but HD don't offer them every year. I thought about doing a search for one in your color, but don't know how.
