Default If you want more inches Stroke It

I have a stock 96 CI Street Glide. I have Bub true duals (2009) zipper conputer and K&N high flow. I would like to upgrade somewhat......

1. What sort of improvements will a Cam deliever and what cam.......

2. Or what is needed to stoke it to a 103 and what brand should I research.

Are 1 and 2 worth it or should I take it to a engine shop and have them modify it to my liking......HELP

The 96 is a "stroked" 88. Cams will give you a good bump in power for your dollar. I got 82 hp. and 92 ft lbs tq. on my old 07 Ultra with a 96 and Andrews 26H cams true duals and Open air cleaner with a PCIII.All that is needed to make your 103 is cylinders and pistons.

find a shop with a "system approach".

The 103 is your 96" bored and is a proven reliable package, cams are selected for gearing, riding style , weight etc. pipes and intake work ( maybe heads) as well.

It all needs to work together, so find a proven shop to suggest what they know works.

You'd do well to learn more about what you have, and how engine mods are done. If you jump into something before you understand what options you have, and what they will accomplish, you might be spending a lot of money redoing your motor again when you understand more. There are a lot of hungry shops out there that will gladly relieve you of your hard earned dough.

Thanks for the input. I know that the pipes I have on will hurt performance but I will not change them, i hate the two in one on the baggers. I guess the best thing to do is find a shop and ask some questions...

you stated to make it a 103 a cam, pistons and cylinders. Any certain brand.

What would be a ball park cost of this ....so I can compare

Max cubic inches you can take is 107" without boring the cases. Keep the Bub7's, finest sounding pipes on the planet. With cams and compression, they sound even better.

here is what I did and this was just that. what I did and I have to ride it and stroke the money as it left my bank account.

got the bb 103 kit from harley and ditched the 255 cam and head gasket. put the mcr performance heads on with cometics head gasket.tossed the stock exhaust and replaced it with the black bubs ones with no cross over(these one's where hard to find and cost more).

upgraded my old sert to tts and bingo, bike doesnt just sound good, its beyond that.

parts aproached 2000,use ebay and online dealers, ebay were just fronts for dealers btw

bubs 850

do your research and do it yourself, its stupid easy just need to be **** and patient.I would have sent stock heads out but was concerned about budget gettin carried away and mcr have a lot done to them already, went with the cast pistons in the kit, this was a fly under the raidar build with emthasis on really good sound..and some power/reliability.

every one is going to look out for there interests as stated so you have to take advice but make educated choices. good luck

A cam change will give you the most power for the dollars spent (well worth the upgrade).
Power is equal to how much you are willing to spend. You can buy power.

I've got a 96" FLHX, Stage 1 and cams. I'm right at 90 HP now, and 104 TQ. As far as I'm concerned these are very good numbers for just cams. That being said, I'm going with this 107" kit from www.fuelmotousa.com. Here is a thread with some dyno posts on this big bore kit https://www.hdforums.com/forum/touri...fuel-moto.html. Since I already have cams that are compatible with the big-bore kit it will cost me right at 1,500 for the kit, install and dyno-tune. If you don't already have cams it would be just under 2K for the kit, install and dyno. If you want to do the work yourself, I believe you can get the whole kit for around 1,300. That's a damn good price as far as I'm concerned, and the performance is great as well. And I wouldn't worry about using duals, my dyno sheet was done with duals as well, and I see nothing wrong with it. No second gear "dip" or any of that crap. For under 2K ( or 1,300 if you do it yourself ), I think you get a great return on your investment.
