Question compairing a 2008 to a 2009+ road glide

Is there really any handling differences in a 07&08 RG to an 09+ Road Glide. I am having a
hard time finding info on this. I have a friend that has a 07 RG with only 3000 miles on it and can no longer ride it (age & health). I really like the new 2011 RG Ultra but don't want to spend that kind of money since both of my bikes are paid for. Other than the 103 engine
is there any concerns I should be aware of?
Thanks,
Crustye

The major difference between the 08 and 09 would be the updated frame.

Major difference in frame from '08 to '09 and newer. You can get alot of opinions which is "better." Best to ride (rent) each and come to your own conclusions. When making that size of an investment, your opinion is the only one that counts.

Thanks, I know that the 07 RG that my friend has has got to be an improvement on my 03 Wide Glide. And at 57 I think it's time for a bagger. I have ridden an 06 & 07 RG but only test rode an 10 model. I couldn't tell much difference other than the 10 had a bigger rear tire. Most of my riding is on the Interstate doing long cross-country rides.

I think you would be pleased with the '07. It will be an improvement for you going to the 96 and a 6 speed trasmission. Also, if you like the Ultra options, you will be able to bolt on any thing that an '07 Ultra has on it. I put all of the intercom, CB, rear speakers, tour-pak on mine. I added all of the part numbers and cost here https://www.hdforums.com/forum/touri...arts-list.html. Everything was plug and play and took about a day to put it all on. Shop ebay for some of the items. Hope this helps and good luck.

I would at least get an 08 for the bigger tank, standard IDS, and Brembo brakes...

Brembo Brakes... just awesome.

Myself, I would get a low mileage 09. There are a ton out there for cheap-ish.

Smile RG Choice

I just traded last month for an 08 RG from a 05 Dyna. Obviously not the same class of bikes or riding. I went with the 08 because of the bigger tank and the 6 spd trans. Rides like a dream. The newer RG's may be nicer but either way you go they are a super bike. For me it was availabilty, mileage and price. There were no used bikes in town at a dealer so I went an hour north and found two (5000 miles on one and 60 on the other). Both in perfect condition. Went by the dealer a few days ago and they had new '10 and '11. No discount on '10s and holding the line on the '11's. If you friends bike has been taken care of and the price is right chances are you won't find a bette bike for the price - and you will feel better knowing where it has been.
