Default DEALER CHARGES to Lower a Ultra ?

What kind of charges does a dealer have to change and lower both front and rear on a newer Ultra ( New Frame) ? Thanks

I reckon they would charge you about 4 hours of labor.

the rear would be a matter of buying the shocks ( Zanotti $220) and putting them on, which you could do- it is 4 bolts, 2 air lines ( which require no tools) and you'll need to lift the center of the bike to take the weight off of the rear wheel.

probably your dealer would charge you an hour? and full retail for the shocks

and for shop rags etc. So maybe close to $350 for the rear?

the front is more involved, I'm sure they could give you an accurate estimate.

what I"m getting at is that you are more than capable of doing the rear.
you could do that, and if you still want to be lower and are ok with the reduced clearance and cornering- you could then have a dealer do the front.
and if the clearance is a problem you could go back to stock and you are out only minimal expense and trouble, selling your used short shocks for $150 or better

Thanks I think that the hour charge is about $85 so without parts $340 and parts is around $410 so $750 to get it done?

Probably about a grand. Use to be about a hundred. They only want $1200 to put pullback touring bars on my 2010 Limited...

Dealer put lowering brackets on the rear of mine as part of the sale. The brackets are cheap and easy to install. Actually changing the rear shocks is an easy job. Figure parts and 1 hr labor.
The front is more involved, and more expensive. If your thinking about chrome forks, do them at the same time to save on labor charges.

Be aware that if you lower your bike by using factory lowering shocks (12") like come on the Streetglide you will have a MAJOR decrease in ride quality. That 1" decrease in shock travel means the difference between a Cadillac ride and hardtail-like ride. Couldn't take the ride on my Streetglide (I'm old) and changed over to Ultra shocks and the difference was unbelievable. I understand there are aftermarket brands of the short shocks that will give you a much better ride than the H-D ones, but they are pricey. Do a search on this forum-there's a lot of info on this subject.
