Default stock ecm must be ok on new bikes.

found this posted by Jamie of fuelmoto on another site. It looks like the stock ecm does a pretty good job at least on open loop. I am kind of suprised that it is not leaner. 2011 touring 96" stock ecm comparing stock pipes with cat to fuelmoto headers.

Nobody else suprised at how rich the stock ecm is letting the motor run at WOT considering how lean epa mandates?

Thanks for posting this info MtClassic, but I'm not surprised that your not getting much response from it. Lot of folks just think the stock ECM is garbage and needs to be replaced with an aftermarket tuner. I had already researched this and knew it was very capable in the open loop. That's why I went with the inexpensive xied's to enrichen the closed loop. just saying!

The ECM calibration (Lambda table more specifically) is actually calling for an AFR of 12.84:1 in open loop at full throttle. The open loop areas are not generally the problem, the closed loop is where can see AFR's as lean as 15:1 as well as the surrounding blend areas

jamie, thanks for looking at this post. Where would you like to see closed loop in low load cruise say from 1500-3500 rpm 14.2-14.4? sound close? I guess I am just suprised that the stock ecm did so well WOT. On the PCV I know you disconnect the O2 sensors, what happens when you do this on the stock ecm? thank you.

This test did not surprise me as the bike was otherwise completely stock. On the other hand when you change the intake and mufflers the airflow dynamics change greatly as well as the calibration requirements. Generally speaking we set up our maps and calibrations 13.8-14.4 in the cruise range and blend the higher load areas to 13.0-13.2, this depends on the combination and requirements. With PC-V when you unplug the O2 sensors the bike will run off the programming edits you have in your PC map which are used to correct the ECM's calibration.
